Zukeran Tribune Parent Newsletter
Dear Families,
We are excited to announce our upcoming school-wide field trip to see Puss in Boots at the Ginowan Convention Center! Please review the important information below to help your child prepare for a fun and safe trip.
Field Trip
🚌 Transportation
All students will ride the school bus to and from the event.
Only registered parent chaperones may ride the school bus. Younger siblings are not permitted. If you are a registered chaperone, you should have already received a separate email from me. If you did not, please email me asap.
If a parent needs to pick up their child early, it must be done after returning to Zukeran Elementary through the front office. No child may be checked out from the Ginowan Convention Center. All students must ride the school bus to/from the event.
🎟️ Tickets & Payment
Any parents attending who are not registered chaperones are responsible for purchasing their own ticket upon arrival at the venue.
🍎 Lunch
For students bringing a home lunch, please make sure it is labeled with your child’s name and packed in a disposable bag.
No backpacks, lunchboxes, or reusable water bottles, please, as they can be easily misplaced.
Include a drink and any utensils your child may need.
Please pack items that do not require refrigeration.
For students who pre-ordered a school lunch, Mrs. A will pick these up from the cafeteria in the morning.
Students will eat lunch at the Convention Center from 10:00–10:20 a.m.
EVERYONE, please also pack your child a snack (separately from their lunch). Snacks will stay at school, and we’ll eat them after returning from the field trip.
🧾 What to Bring
✅ Labeled disposable sack lunch (if your child is not ordering a school lunch)
✅ Lightweight jacket or sweater
✅ Comfortable shoes
✅ Best behavior- remember we are ambassadors for our school, military community, and country!
👩🏫 Supervision
Each class will have assigned chaperones who will supervise small student groups throughout the trip. Teachers will carry emergency contact lists and first aid supplies.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up
We are looking forward to a wonderful experience. Thank you for your cooperation and support. This is a friendly reminder about morning drop-off: if your child is not ready to exit the vehicle when you approach the drop-off curb, please proceed to the parent parking lot and assist your child, rather than doing so curb-side. For safety, we must minimize cars stopping longer than necessary along the drop-off area.
Also, please be reminded construction will continue on the main road in the front of Zukeran Elementary School over next two weeks. The traffic flow will be impacted during afternoon pick-up. For feedback and concerns, please e-mail me directly at elise.rosch@dodea.edu so I can provide support.
Please note:
- You will see only one lane available for traffic.
- Personnel will be on site directing vehicles through the available lanes. You will see only one lane available for traffic. Please follow all signs and directions posted.
- This may cause delays in pick-up times.
We will monitor the situation closely and keep you updated as needed. If you have any concerns or feedback, please email me directly at elise.rosch@dodea.edu.
We should be all set for Monday's study trip. Thank you so much to those who have volunteered to chaperone with your child's class. If you have any questions the day of the event, please call the main office or email Kerwin.Jones@dodea.edu. Please also include your child's teacher.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in making these experiences meaningful for our students! We look forward to another full week of school.

Dear Zukeran Staff and Families,
We are excited to launch our 2nd Annual Zukeran Holiday Food Drive, proudly sponsored by our Student Leadership Team. Last year, our school gathered together to support our local military-connected community, and we are thrilled to continue this tradition of giving.
Our schoolwide goal is to collect 500 food items. This year, we are honored to partner with Help Oki, an organization that supports families and individuals across Okinawa. All food donations collected will be delivered directly to Help Oki to benefit our broader island community.
Accepted Donation Items
● Canned goods: soups, vegetables, fruit, beans, sauces, tuna, chicken, etc.
● Boxed pasta
● Boxed rice
Students may drop off items in clearly labeled grade-level collection boxes and bags throughout the school. We encourage classrooms to promote teamwork and kindness as students take part in this service project.
Thank you for helping our students learn the power of generosity, community, and leadership. Your support makes a meaningful difference to families across Okinawa.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Delaney.
Warmly, Zukeran Student Leadership Team
All after-school clubs have begun meeting. Year-long clubs will run until the week of May 22nd, 2026. Multi-session clubs will run with start and end dates indicated on our School Activities page. More details, including club sponsor contact info, can be found there as well. If you're new to Zukeran and interested in signing your child up, please reach out to the club sponsor listed or Mr. Kerwin Jones.
Is your child having a rough go of it at school? Is something getting in the way of their academic success? We want to help!
